Francis Bacon and most of the founders of modern
science clearly understood that science could not replace faith in Christ.
Far from discounting the possibility of the supernatural, they realized
that without an acknowledgment of God, the present could not be adequately
explained. The founders of modern science had confidence to proceed with
scientific inquiry because of their knowledge that an orderly universe
had to have a designer. This confidence in the existance of a personal
God, who had created the universe in an orderly fashion, provided the foundation
to proceed with scientific inquiry.
Today’s intellectuals have lost this foundation understanding of the purpose of science. The very definition of 'science' has been altered from "acknowledged truths and laws, especially as demonstrated by induction, experiment, or observation" (1934 edition of Webster's New School dictionary) to "knowledge concerning the physical world and its phenomena" (1983 edition of Webster's Collegiate dictionary). This definition removes the idea that "truth" exists and emphasizes natural phenomena. Regardless of the affect God has had in the past, this intervention cannot be considered by modern science because science has been defined to exclude this possibility. Truths are those things which operate regardless of the opinions of man. Gravity will operate independent of belief, understanding, or interpretation. If the universe and mankind are direct creations of a personally involved God, then this is a truth regardless of how modern man chooses to interpret the evidence surrounding this event. The reason evidence for creation is not commonly known is that our public school system has become increasingly dominated by the philosophy of humanism. The very basis of humanism is that man, not God, is the center and measure of all things. Evolution serves as the primary justification for this belief system. Thus, evolution is presented as fact in the public school system and only evidence supporting this concept is shown to students. Evolution stands in sharp opposition to a Biblical world view in the following ways:
There is abundant scientific evidence that macro-evolution has never taken place. The fossil record is replete with missing links between major groups of plants & animals; the chemical structure of DNA contains useful information which could not have developed by natural processes; one kind of creature has never been shown to change into a completely different kind; no new organ has ever been shown to develop or even shown how it could develop; there is abundant evidence for a worldwide flood which removes the very basis for a slow gradual interpretation of the fossil record; and there are far more dating methods which indicate that the earth and universe are quite young than methods which indicate that it is very old. |
