Most of you will soon begin an exciting new school year. You will start a new learning adventure. You will meet new teachers and friends. You will receive many textbooks to help you with your studies. There will be many lessons to study in English, math, spelling, history, reading, and many more subjects.
Do you know another very important book to study? If you guessed the Bible, you are absolutely correct! The Bible is God’s word. It is filled with thousands of fascinating stories and important information.
The Bible is divided into two sections called testaments. The Old Testament is about events before the birth of Jesus Christ. The New Testament is about events after the birth of Jesus Christ. Each testament is further divided into books. There are 66 books in the Bible. The 66 books of the Bible were written by 40 or more men over 2,000 years ago!
How do we know the Bible is true? There are many ways to prove that the writings of the Bible are true. Did you know that the Bible told us the earth was round (Isaiah 40:22) long before Christopher Columbus confirmed it? Did you know that the Bible told us about gravity (Job 26:7) before Sir Isaac Newton discovered it? Did you know the Bible told us about the vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22) long before the astrologers did? The Bible tells us many facts, we just need to study it to find them.
The Bible teaches us endless important information. Most importantly the Bible challenges us to discover God’s will for our lives and to prepare for His soon-coming kingdom. Have you studied your Bible lately?
